Eurobike will replace Reisinger as it revamps leadership

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — Phillipp Ferger will replace Stefan Reisinger as head of Eurobike on Jan. 1 as the trade show reorganizes its leadership in the wake of two German trade groups withholding support of the event.

Ferger, Messe Frankfurt vice president of consumer fairs, will manage Fairnamic — Eurobike's organizer — along with Stefan Mittag of Messe Friedrichshafen. Two new roles — authorized representative and show director — will be created to "enhance operational management." Both positions are close to being filled, according to a Eurobike news release.

Reisinger helped shape the Fairnamic since its creation in 2021. He will continue to support the organization during the transition with the new management team making "conceptual adjustments to the Eurobike trade show concept for 2026, and especially for editions from 2027 onwards."

Organizers said discussions are taking place with industry associations with the trade fair advisory board meeting at the beginning of the new year. This will involve "important" industry representatives and "key" German and European exhibitors.

Eurobike announced the e-mobility event Mobifuture at last June's show. It was planned to be held at the same venue as Eurobike over the same dates, with a single entry ticket. ZIV and Zukunft Fahrrad pulled their support, saying in part that Mobifuture would be a distraction from Eurobike's focus on the traditional bike market. In November, Fairnamic said it would not hold the event alongside the bike show in 2026, which is scheduled for June in Frankfurt.

The trade groups invited international OEMs and suppliers to participate in one of two online meetings this month to explain their decision and to answer questions.

German trade groups still withholding support for Eurobike

The groups are planning two online meetings to explain their decision.

BERLIN (BRAIN) — The two German trade groups that announced in October they no longer would support Eurobike are inviting international OEMs and suppliers to participate in one of two online meetings to explain their decision and to answer questions.

ZIV and Zukunft Fahrrad have scheduled the one-hour meetings for next Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. CET and Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. CET. The meetings will begin with a review and background of the decision, viewers' responses and feedback, and conclude with what the groups are planning.

"The developments and discussions over the recent weeks have strengthened our conviction that the industry needs a strong global trade fair with a clear European focus," said ZIV CEO Burkhard Stork in an email Friday announcing the meetings.

Eurobike establishes advisory board to help shape its future

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — A week after ending an e-mobility show held in conjunction with Eurobike next year following two German trade groups’ objection to holding the events concurrently, Eurobike organizers announced they have established an advisory board to guide future decisions.

The Trade Show Advisory Board will be chaired by Stephan Kurzawski, a member of the Messe Frankfurt Board of Management, a shareholder of show organizer Fairnamic. At Messe Frankfurt, Kurzawski serves as senior vice president Consumer Good, Automotive and Textile Shows and Sales.

Eurobike announced emobility show Mobifuture at last June's show. Mobifuture was planned to be held at the same venue as Eurobike over the same dates, with a single entry ticket. Last month, two German trade groups pulled their support for Eurobike, saying in part that Mobifuture would be a distraction from Eurobike's focus on the traditional bike market.

The groups released a list of 10 improvements they wanted for the show that included eliminating Mobifuture, shortening the consumer festival and forming an advisory board.

Show organizers said the advisory board will begin immediately.

“The composition is intended to reflect the spirit of dialogue with the entire industry: national, international, competent and diverse in perspectives,” according to a Eurobike release. “Initial discussions with potential stakeholders are already in full swing. Associations, institutions and initiatives related to bicycles, e-bikes and ecomobility are also expressly invited to contribute and continue shaping the path forward together with the trade show organizers. The Trade Show Advisory Board will accompany the conceptual development of Eurobike and advise the trade show team on strategic and program-related issues.”

The 34th Eurobike takes place at Messe Frankfurt from June 24-27.

Eurobike ends plans for Mobifuture co-event

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — Eurobike organizers say they will not hold a distinct e-mobility event alongside the bike show in 2026.

In a news release on Wednesday, the show's organizers, Fairnamic, said, "In 2026, there will be no Mobifuture event co-located with Eurobike. Mobility concepts beyond today’s bicycles or e‑bikes will still have their place at Eurobike. Fairnamic has understood that key market participants see the need for further clarification of Mobifuture’s concept and direction, which is why it will not present it as a standalone trade show format in 2026."

Eurobike surprised by trade groups’ decision to end support, says discussions ongoing

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — Eurobike’s organizers say they were taken by surprise when two German trade groups announced Thursday that they were pulling their support for the show.

A representative from Eurobike — which is scheduled for next June in Frankfurt — told BRAIN that "we remain in constructive dialogue with the industry," but a statement from the two groups had a note of finality.

“Following lengthy discussions with the Eurobike operators, we have decided to end our cooperation. We could not see that both operators were equally committed to supporting the measures that would be necessary to make the trade fair fit for the future of the bicycle industry,” said Bernhard Lange in a joint statement Thursday from the two associations, ZIV and Zukunft Fahrrad.

Lange is managing partner at the German distribution company, Paul Lange GmbH & Co., and a member of ZIV’s three-member "Presidium" executive board.

Other association board members from companies including Bosch, JobRad and Zedler Group were also quoted in the release in support of the separation from Eurobike.

The groups hinted at launching their own show, saying “Both associations are now looking to the future with determination.”

“We will move forward with the process very quickly,” ZIV CEO Burkhard Stork said. “The issue of an industry platform needs to be resolved in a forward-looking manner, as we all recognize the enormous political and economic challenges facing our industry.”

The joint statement referenced a 10-point plan that the trade groups presented to Eurobike. The groups did not immediately respond to questions from BRAIN or share the points.

Eurobike’s statement said the show organizers have already agreed to make some changes suggested in the plan, including adjusting the show’s length. The 2026 show is planned to have just one consumer festival day, instead of the two days it has held in recent years. The number of trade-only days remains three. The 2026 show will also be bifurcated, with an e-mobility trade event held concurrently with the bicycle specialty show at the Messe Frankfurt.

“Over the last few months, we have been in close and constructive dialogue with industry players and have received valuable input from across the sector – through industry surveys as well as requirements from the associations themselves in the form of a ’10-point plan’ – on how to develop Eurobike further,” the show said in a statement released to BRAIN.

“In light of this, we are surprised by the decision of the industry associations, as the dialogue between all parties was conducted in an objective and solution-oriented manner. … It is our goal to work together with the industry and our partners from trade and politics to continuously develop Eurobike and strengthen its standing as the leading trade fair in a national and international context,” the Eurobike statement said.

Eurobike's 2025 show lacked some major brand exhibitors and attendance was down slightly, which the organizers attributed to a recovery bike market in Germany. They said shortening the consumer festival for next year will reduce exhibitor costs and return focus to the trade.

Eurobike undergoes changes, will shorten consumer festival to one day

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — Eurobike will be shortened next year with the consumer festival being reduced to one day to reduce costs. The Fairnamic GmbH’s trade show organization made the announcement, saying it’s reacting to the changing global bike industry and offering a more compact and cost-effective event.

The extra day on Sunday was added in 2022 in conjunction with Eurobike’s relocation from Friedrichshafen to Frankfurt. The trade show’s three-day B2B-focused gathering will continue.

“We are aware of the current challenges in the industry and take these very seriously,” said Fairnamic Managing Director Stefan Reisinger. “Cost pressure is high everywhere, and with the shortened duration, adjusted participation conditions and fairly calculated all-inclusive participation formats, we offer the industry the opportunity to position Eurobike sustainably together as a strong innovation and highlight platform. …”

Last month’s 33rd Eurobike experienced a 10.9% decline in trade visitors from 2024 with 31,270 attending. It attracted 30,420 enthusiasts, which was down 8.1% from the previous year.

Also part of the realignment, Eurobike is developing new participation formats for complete-bike brands to participate “at a reasonable cost,” according to the Eurobike announcement. “This will also enable those market players to re-enter the market who had recently refrained from participating as exhibitors.”

Last month’s show included about 1,500 exhibitors; in 2024, organizers said the show had 1,800 exhibitors. Major brands missing included the large German distributor ZEG, SRAM, DT Swiss, PON.Bike, and Campagnolo.

The participation formats will be supplemented by the strengthening of specialist retail participation, organizers said. This invitation system for retailers from Germany and Europe — formerly known as “Retail First” — will be reactivated. In the future, manufacturers will be able to target and invite their most important specialist retailers to the trade fair for free.

Organizers previously announced they will produce a separate show devoted to light electric vehicles for the first time next year. The new show will be called Mobifuture and held on the same dates and same location as Eurobike (June 24-27, 2026, at the Messe Frankfurt).

2025 Eurobike, Part 2: Trade attendance down 11%

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — Eurobike concluded Sunday following a two-day consumer festival and three-day trade show. Organizers reported declines in the number of trade visitors and enthusiasts at the event, which they attributed to a less-than-complete market recovery and the absence of some major bike brands.

"Ongoing challenges did not spare the world's leading trade fair, which this year had to do without the participation of some major industry players," organizers said Monday. "This was compensated for by the strong international presence among exhibitors, many of which were showcasing their products on the European market for the first time."

The organizers said the show attracted 31,270 trade visitors (down 10.9% from last year) and 30,420 enthusiasts at the festival (down 8.1% from last year). They said the show included about 1,500 exhibitors; last year they said the show had 1,800 exhibitors. Major brands missing included the large German distributor ZEG, SRAM, DT Swiss, PON.Bike and Campagnolo.

One bright spot: International visitors were up, with non-Germans accounting for 53.7% of attendance compared to 49.2% in 2024.

As previously reported, the organizers of Eurobike announced that next year they will produce a separate show devoted to light electric vehicles. The new show will be called Mobifuture and held at the same dates and same location as Eurobike (June 24-28, 2026 at the Messe Frankfurt).

"This shift allows Eurobike to place greater emphasis on its sporting core – road cycling, gravel and e-mountain biking – while bicycle and e-bike manufacturers and suppliers, along with components, parts and accessories, will continue to form the heart of the trade fair. At the same time, Mobifuture is evolving into the leading platform for urban and connected mobility, targeting manufacturers and operators, city administrations, policymakers and infrastructure providers, offering concrete solutions for the urban mobility of the future. This creates a forward-looking concept for two dynamically growing industries," organizers said.

Cinelli shows new steel gravel bike

Cinelli, which recently announced it is assembling bikes for the U.S. in an Iowa facility, is showing its new Italian made steel gravel model, the Speciale Gravel. Made with tubing from Cinelli's sister company Columbus, the Speciale is nearly 200 grams lighter than Cinelli's previous gravel frame, the Nemo. "Designed for the modern gravel rider who refuses to settle for 'ordinary', this platform is for those who want a fast, aggressive yet versatile gravel machine with a unique soul and looks to match. The Speciale Gravel blends performance with durability, featuring evolved Columbus Spirit tubing, a Columbus Components Divide Integrated Carbon Fork and a universal derailleur hanger," the company said.

The frame has full internal cable routing for mechanical or electronic groups in 1x or 2x. It has internal dropper post compatibility and clearance for tires up to 29x2.2-inch.

A limited edition model in Agave color is built with a full Shimano GRX 1x group and a Columbus Components finishing kit. Wheels are Fulcrum Rapid Red AL, with Vittoria Mezcal XC 29x2.1 tires.

Quin adds lower priced option

Quin is now offering a less expensive safety device for helmets, the Quin Tag, which complements its Quin Pod it showed at Eurobike last year. While the Pod can detect incidents, record crash data and other information, and alert responders, the new Tag product is simpler, allowing responders to access information about the rider from a mobile device. The Tag also enables access to Quin’s Protect service - whereby helpers at the scene can activate an integrated emergency services response. The Tag is available with multiple form factors so it can integrate with a wide range of materials.

Quin's technology is now being used by brands including ABUS, O’NEAL, Fly Racing, Lumos, Guardio, Monitor and Norton. In 2023, helmet safety brand MIPS made an investment in the UK-based company, but the two companies operate independently.

TwiceMe introduces new feature

TwiceMe is another helmet safety ingredient brand. In the latest update to its product, TwiceMe adds an immobility alert that can detect when users may be incapacitated. If a user does not respond to a mobile alert, it triggers an emergency alert.

TwiceMe continues to offer features including a medical ID that lets users store critical health information; a timer that that alerts friends and family if riders don't return when planned and a friend alert that lets contacts see the user's location in real time. TwiceMe's updated app is available for iOS and Android. TwiceMe has been used by helmet brands including POC, Oakley and Nüdl.

Vittoria expands tire line, promotes app and sustainable display

Vittoria has expanded its offerings, including the addition of a mud tire for cross-country racing, rounding out its full XC product lineup. That line now includes four models including the new Torrente mud tread. The brand also launched an Endurance gravel tire line, updated its long-standing Rubino road tire and promoted its online tire pressure calculator, which it launched in March. It showed new sizes for its most aggressive enduro tire, the Mostro.

The company also is proud of its new sustainable show booth, which was built with 80% recycled and 100% recyclable cardboard, natural linoleum flooring and energy efficient lighting.

Mavic rounds out product line with apparel, helmets and more

A reborn Mavic continues to bring its product line back to previous levels. At Eurobike this year the French brand showed new apparel, shoes, gloves and helmets for road, mountain bike and urban use. It also expanded its wheel line with some wider carbon rims, all with bead hooks for safety, for gravel and road use. A highlight was the ALLROAD S CARBON wheelset, which has a 25mm wide/42mm tall carbon rim, J-bend spokes and Mavic's ID360 ratchet rear hub. The set retails for 1,099 euros and weighs 1,695 grams.

2025 Eurobike, Part 1: Some new product highlights

Organizers announce a concurrent light electric vehicle trade show for 2026.

FRANKFURT (BRAIN) — Eurobike opened its doors Wednesday at the Messe Frankfurt, with 1,500 exhibiting companies from more than 60 nations in attendance.

Fairnamic GmbH, the organizers of the show, announced this week that they will launch a new trade fair for light electric vehicles called Mobifuture, which will be held concurrently with Eurobike next year. Splitting off the LEV element will allow Eurobike to focus on bikes and e-bikes, according to Fairnamic.

"With the move to Frankfurt and the expansion towards ecomobility, Eurobike has grown significantly in recent years. At the same time, its sporting origins have receded somewhat into the background. Bike and e-bike manufacturers, suppliers and components, parts and accessories continue to form the heart of Eurobike, which will position itself more with a stronger emphasis on sports and lifestyle focus in future. While the vehicle segment from e-scooters to microcars is getting a new umbrella under Mobifuture – including its own separate foci and adapted testing opportunities on a separate course," said Fairnamic managing director Stefan Reisinger.

“Both formats will take place simultaneously at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds, utilising all available synergies,” Reisinger said in a release this week. Next year's shows will be June 24-28 in Frankfurt.

Hutchinson gets into belt drives

French tire brand Hutchinson says its been making belts for other industries since 1965, so it's only natural that it is launching a belt drive for bikes and e-bikes at Eurobike.

The Crossdyn belt drive debuts on a Origine Cycles e-bike. "The Hutchinson Crossdyn system is engineered to directly address the primary demands of both bicycle manufacturers and modern cyclists: reliability, durability, and a maintenance-free experience. Unlike traditional chain-driven systems, the Crossdyn belt offers a clean, silent, and significantly longer-lasting alternative, estimated to have twice the lifetime of a standard chain," the company said. Hutchinson also released a new line of bike-care products at Eurobike. The company is in Hall 11.1, B04.

Tq launches stealthy road/gravel motor system

We first learned of Germany's Technologies Qualitat (Tq) motors at the 2022 Eurobike, when it launched a lightweight e-MTB motor, which Trek had the exclusive on for a time. Since then the company has supplied motors to many brands. At Eurobike this year it released a lightweight system for dropbar bikes. The TQ-HPR40 Drive System weighs just 1,170 grams (2,700 grams including a 290Wh battery) and delivers 40 Nm of torque and up to 200 Watts of power. The motor surrounds the bottom bracket so it's nearly invisible behind the chainrings and the system's controls integrate with electronics from Shimano, SRAM, Garmin, Hammerhead, Sigma and Wahoo.

A minimalist "display" (right) consists of LEDs in a bar-end plug. Perhaps more importantly, the system is quiet and drag free after it reaches its maximum speed; it's designed to give riders a boost but, the company said, "The one rider it is not made for, though, is the one who want to fly up a mountain without breaking a sweat." The company is at Hall 12.0, A26 and outside at F12, G18.

Prologo offers super-sticky tape and more saddles

Prologo is showing a lot of new saddle models, including its second 3D-printed model for the road and gravity mountain bike and e-MTB models under the Proxim brand. The Proxim line was designed with recycled and recycleable materials. The brand's most striking new product is its OctoTouch 3D handlebar tape (left), designed for "the cobbles of Paris-Roubaix to the gravel of Strade Bianche, from rough and cracked asphalt to weekend gravel adventures." The company said the design "is able to transform vibrations coming from the terrain into a gentle micro-massage that relieves the cyclist’s hands, wrists, and arms, helping to increase overall stamina."

Feedback releases air-powered workstand

Feedback Sports' new Pro Air Lift workstand, which won a Eurobike Design Award this year, can be pressurized with a floor pump or air compressor to lift bikes weighing up to 100 pounds. That means it can be used in remote locations with no electricity available. To match the workstand, Feedback also is releasing its first pump, the Pneumo CC Floor Pump, which has a concealed internal air cannister that can be pressurized to deliver a burst of air for tire seating or to power the Pro Air Lift. The Pro Air Lift will retail for $725 and the pump will retail for $150. Feedback also is launching two new tool trays for its workstands at Eurobike this year.

MIPS releases its coolest helmet system

MIPS' new Air Node Pro helmet technology features Coolmax material to wick sweat and dry quickly for hot weather and high-output activity. The helmet liner has "flow paths" that direct sweat away from the rider's face, and quick-release pads that can be removed to be rinsed and dried if necessary. The system still offers MIPS' multi-angle impact safety features.

Enduro unveils Pro Bottom Bracket Tool Kit

At Eurobike, Enduro's is unveiling its BBT-044 Pro Bottom Bracket Cup Toolkit (right), which adds to its full line of pro quality tools. Enduro's Rick Sutton said Enduro's product director, Chris Feucht, has been focuses on updating and improving the tool line for three years. The BBT-044 includes the full complement of splined cups and bearing inserts to install and remove any Enduro bottom bracket. The tools feature a unique design that allows mechanics to switch between 24, 29 and 30mm inner guide inserts or a universal insert, depending on the application. The kit sells for $159.

More product highlights as the organizers announce increases in trade and consumer attendance.

FRANKFURT, Germany (BRAIN) — Organizers of Eurobike, which closed Sunday following its closing weekend consumer festival, said attendance by both consumers and trade visitors was up slightly this year over last.

This year the show tracked 35,080 trade visitors — up 1% from last year. The consumer festival attracted 33,090 fans — up 6% from last year. Here are a few product-related business news highlights. First, what would a trade show be without a new clipless pedal design? In the Eurobike area for startups, Austria's Tourelly (which sounds a bit like Torelli, old timers will say) showed a new design that bears some similarity to the Speedplay, in that the spring is in the cleat, not the pedal. It's also similar to the late-great Aerolite pedal (news flash: the Aerolite is still made: aerolitepedals.com) with a round-ish pedal body allowing clip-in no matter how the spindle is rotated. It's light. It's easy to clip in, no matter how the pedal is rotated. Float and spring tension can be varied. It has a two-bolt mountain bike/gravel cleat option, and a three-bolt road cleat option, and either cleat will work on the same pedal, which could be a convenience for some. Tourelly is starting a crowd-funding campaign this fall.

Satori, a component brand from Taiwan's HL Corp., now incorporates a recess into several of its stem models, allowing integration with mounts and accessories from SP Connect, Quad Lock, Fidlock, and Peak Design. Satori calls this the S3 Satori Square System and said more integrations are on the way. The system allows mounting various accessories, including phone cases, without the need for a handlebar or stem clamp. It comes on some adjustable, fixed and suspension stem models and some integrated stem/handlebar models.

There are several crash-detection products on the market, including the ANGI one now sold on some Specialized helmet models and the Aleck system used by Smith. The Quin device, from a UK company, provides more data and its developers claim it's so smart it can distinguish between accidental bumps and real crashes, reducing false positive reports that irritate spouses.

The Quin is smart enough to know when an empty helmet falls off a counter. It does the expected thing of alerting emergency contacts and first responders of a fall, providing location information and more. It also records detailed impact data that could be useful or at least entertaining in post-crash investigations. Its app records ride data (using the mobile phone's GPS and data from the helmet device) and the device can record data like lean angle that could be world-changing to someone.

Last year MIPS made a minority investment in Quin and the two helmet safety brands exhibited next to each other at Eurobike. However the companies are operated separately and currently there are no plans to bundle or integrate their products.

RTi Sports, the German company behind brands including Ergon, Terry saddles, and Ca Go cargo bikes, has launched a new TPU inner tube brand, called Aeron. Our guess is that Aeron's Eurobike booth was the largest show booth ever devoted solely to an inner tube brand. RTi, which distributed Tubolito TPU tubes until recently, said the Aeron tubes solve some problems encountered by other TPU products. While TPU promises lighter weight, more compact size and puncture resistance than butyl (and less mess than tubeless sealant), they've been prone to slippery valve stems that can leak or even come apart. Aeron said its stems are securely bonded to the tubes, are textured so pumps can grip them, and the valve cores are permanently bonded into the stem. They come in several thicknesses with associated weights and puncture-resistance ratings. There are size options for most adult tires. Since photos of gray inner tubes are unenlightening, we share a photo of the empty Aeron booth.

Why did the Benno booth have an antique fire truck from the Shakopee, Minnesota, fire department? Because it's fun. Benno had some booth workers wearing Shakopee FD T-shirts and its Benno SFD concept bike was an eye-catcher. The truck belongs to a German collector. Benno also showed a wind/rain cover, called the Rainbow Cover. It provides some protection to the rider and any children who happen to be tagging along. And the company said it's not affected by side winds. It uses aluminum tent poles and is quickly removed.

Tern's Orox offroad e-cargo model, which was launched in February, won a Eurobike award. Eurobike award judges said the model "combines the robustness of a mountain bike, the versatility of a trekking bike and the practical benefits of a cargo bike and impresses with well thought-out details and perfect handling." Just before the show, the brand launched the Quick Haul Long, a compact e-cargo bike that offers many of the features of Tern's GSD model at a better price. It has a maximum gross vehicle weight of 419 pounds and can carry two children-plus a driver or even two adults (including the driver). Pricing starts at about $3,800. We didn't get the dog's name, a journalistic failure.
